THE WORLD INSURANCE FORUM 2008 Donates to the
Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies
HAMILTON, Bermuda—12th June, 2008 — The World Insurance Forum (WIF) is a biennial event created by the industry for the industry, and is targeted toward insurance leaders who gather to discuss critical issues facing the global insurance and reinsurance sectors. The 2008 forum was held at the Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai, UAE, in March.
As the first forum staged outside of Bermuda, the objective was to build relationships, exchange views, develop mutual opportunities and move forward to establish international best practice for the industry.
The WIF was a resounding success. Attainments included:
- More than 400 delegates from 7 continents and 33 countries
- 52 international speakers
- Major multi-national insurance and reinsurance companies represented
- Broad industry sponsorship
The 2008 forum broke all previous records, making it the most successful forum in its history.
With the surplus funds generated from the 2008 forum, the WIF Advisory Board and Operating Committee and our major sponsors have agreed to award $75,000 to the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS), established in 1996 to assist Bermudian students to educate themselves for a career in the insurance industry by putting in place a program of scholarships, mentoring and internships which, over time will provide Bermuda’s Insurance Companies with well educated and well prepared Bermudian staff.
The next World Insurance Forum will be in March 2010. The WIF Advisory Board and Operating Committee will be announcing the venue at a later date and will post the details on the website at www.worldinsuranceforum.com.

The World Insurance Forum is held every two years and is an event created by the industry for the industry. The 2008 Forum will be the eighth since 1993.
The Forum is owned and operated by the Bermuda Insurance Symposium, a not-for-profit Bermuda company limited by guarantee.
